I recently had an interesting conversation about healing, addressing weird health conditions, and why we are never taught about the basics of our human anatomy. A huge percentage of the populace are content with going to their PCP and investing $5 to $10 of their co-pay, only then to be prescribed a pharmaceutical drug to take care of an annoying health ailment such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, muscle or joint pains, and the list goes on.
For some, these supposed pharmaceutical medicines with complicated names and spellings do the trick, but in the past few years more and more are having adverse side effects to the medicines, and then are prescribed other medicines to treat those adverse side effects, and the cycle continues. So, what is the solution?
This is where you have to be completely honest with yourself and decide: do you fall into the category of wanting to be cured of a particular ailment or would you like to heal yourself of a particular ailment and become more whole? It all depends on your focus and expectations, that will lead to your desired end result – the resolution of a particular health crisis.
Suffering from a bizarre health condition or chronic pain is often the motivator to seek ease, a cure, or to heal. There are so many different methods and protocols to potentially cure someone of a particular ailment, however be-ing cured is a temporary illusion. The reason being, if one doesn’t get to the root cause or true reason that your body created the ailment, it will just be a matter of time for it to come back. I’ve heard of many stories in the past 24 years at my practice of people supposedly cured of cancer or some injury only to succumb to it five, 10, 20, or 30 years later. This all too similar occurrence has constantly prompted me to ask the next question – why does this happen?
When people feel they were cured of a health ailment by either a healer, acupuncturist, medical procedure, shaman, herb, or a machine, only to have that ailment come back with a vengeance later, shock and disappointment usually sets in. In my observation of this phenomena, I’ve come to the realization that whenever we don’t take ownership or responsibility in the curing of an ailment, and think the cure occurred outside of us, rather than you healing yourself, that is the reason.
Healing is a journey that you embark upon that leads to self-awareness and ownership of your beliefs and ultimately yourself. You have the power to heal, and it starts with believing that you can heal, and having the courage to go through the nagging fear of, “what if the healing never happens?” The moment you become aware, can acknowledge, accept, create a plan, and then take action in your situation, is when true healing begins.
However, if you want to just be cured and let someone else do all the work for you, just know that the belief in that person, herb, machine, or procedure may be convincing for a while, but if you still have the worry or concern in the recesses of your mind that it may come back, then one day it most certainly will. Know that the power to heal comes from inside. Take the reins of your healing journey and choose your support team that can give you a boost when you need it along with their recommendations, but know that you are the one that has the power to choose and take ownership of what happens next.
I came across this gem of an interview by renowned hypnotherapist, Dolores Cannon, “if the mind is powerful enough to make yourself sick, it’s also powerful enough to heal you. First, we gotta find out why. Why did you do this to yourself? What were you trying to tell yourself? Every disease is the body talking to you. Now, cancer most of the cases we have found is caused by suppressed anger. If the person could just talk about what was bothering them, but they don’t. They hold it inside and they always say, I don’t have any problems. You’re the ones with the problems.”
Know that the mind, along with the body, created the ailment, which means the mind and body can also heal the ailment. Instead of looking for a cure, take ownership of what your thoughts, emotions, and actions are and discover why you manifested the health condition. By learning to ask yourself the right questions, you will be able to discover the reason why you created what you did.
Instead of looking for experts to tell you what’s wrong with you, listen to your own internal dialogue and tap in to your deep inner knowing and discover that what you created was right for you. You are not a victim, and you are not helpless to the whims of your body. You are being prompted to determine the reason behind the suffering so you can set yourself free. You hold the key to your own healing, so all you need to do is turn the key and become whole once more.
